Xochicalco

Xochicalco ruins are located south-west of Cuernavaca, Morelos and date from about 650 AD. The site has an observatory, several ball courts and a number of structures, some excavated and restored and others still only earth-covered mounds. There is also a small museum displaying regional artifacts.

State of Morelos

A small but diverse state, Morelos offers colonial architecture and history, the archaeological sites of Xochicalco, Teopanzolco, El Tepozteco and Chalcatzingo, several reconstructed haciendas, many now turned into hotels and resorts and plenty of natural hot springs, lakes and recreational areas such as Tequesquitengo, Las Lagunas de Zempoala and Agua Hedionda in Cuautla.
