The BBC’s Fast Track television travel series has featured Mexico in a couple of its recent segments, providing audio and visual orientation helpful to visitors wanting to experience Mexico, both ancient and modern, first hand.

In this segment, BBC’s Rajan Datar explores the ruins of the ancient, almost-2,000-year-old city of Teotihuacan which lies to the north of Mexico City and is one of Mexico’s most well-known archaeological sites. In it we accompany him up the 70-meter-high Pyramid of the Sun, third tallest in the world, and gain insights from Mexican archaeologist, Prof. Ruben Cabrera Castro about new discoveries and findings in this tremendous and extensive archaeological site of which only 16% has been excavated as yet. Engravings and glyphs were found in the 1990s which are proof of a Teotihuacan writing system and which are only now being prepared to be shown to the public.
Discovering free attractions in Mexico City. ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/fast_track/8640412.stm )
A second short Fast Track presentation on Mexico focuses on attractions in Mexico City that are free to the public. We are guided by Carlos Rafael Salinas on a tour through Coyoacan, a quaint and bohemian part of southern Mexico City, once home to Friday Kahlo and Diego Rivera, then to the much-visited pilgrimage site of the Basilica de Guadalupe, dedicated to Mexico’s beloved patron saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and finally on a Sunday visit to Mexico City’s wide and beautiful Paseo de la Reforma, a tree-lined boulevard running through the heart of the city, where automobile and bus traffic on Sundays is relegated to other routes while happy crowds of cyclists, pedestrians, skaters and skateboarders take to the pavement of Reforma itself, converting it into an immense and pleasurable exercise and relaxation arena.
