Surfing Baja California

Major Baja California and Baja California Sur Surf Spots

Baja’s surf spots are well-known, with a preponderance of right point and reef breaks and a chance of catching good waves year-round.

The ocean temperatures off Baja and Baja Sur are definitely on the cold side compared to the rest of mainland Mexico, hovering usually between about 11 to 20 degrees C.  Baja’s terrain is rugged and there are long stretches of deserted and desert-like scrub to traverse to reach many of the surf spots, and camping is often the only way to go for accommodations unless you’re planning to stick to the northern border area or the southern tip of Baja near Los Cabos and La Paz.
