Reduce the fat at the next Mexican fiesta with Norpro's tortilla bowl makers. these tortilla bakers quickly crisp tortillas into a shell that's ideal for serving taco salads, salsa, or dip. They're simple to use: just press a tortilla into a baker, pushing it into the curves, and then bake it for 8 to 10 minutes. After a five-minute cool-down period, the now-crisp tortilla can be stuffed with beans, meat, lettuce, cheese, chiles, and whatever else you want. The 2-1/4-inch-deep by 8-1/2-inch-wide bakers can also be used for brioche (there's a good recipe on the box) and other breads, desserts, and molded salads. Works as advertised -- nice, crisp, restaurant-quality tortilla bowls at home! Now we can have our favorite salad and clean up by eating the bowl. A light supper doesn't get any better than that!

I was surprised they worked so well. The large flour tortillas worked well and fit perfectly into the shell bakers. I did spray with EVO (extra virgin olive oil) just to give a bit of flavor and add a bit of browning to the shell. They really did the trick to add the perfect touch to my taco salad and great raves from my guests. Just had to plan ahead to bake during other prep time for the dinner so I had 8 ready to go for the buffet serving.

These bowl makers are so much fun! They are super easy to use and they make the perfect presentation for many things. I am a Weight Watcher person, so anything to keep the points down works for me. The tortillas turn out crisp and yummy! Because you don't use oil, you can make them up ahead, store them in plastic and just re-heat them (or use them at room temp).
